Cartridge Filters
Cartridge filters have become the standard choice for most inground residential pools in Texas. They offer good water quality and fairly simple maintenance, without the costly maintenance required of a DE filter.
Pentair Clean & Clear Plus
320/420/520 Square Feet
This is a 4 cartridge unit that provides good filtration for a typical home pool.
We recommend cleaning this with a booster pump rather than just using a garden hose. We provide this service as a part of our semi-annual maintenance package.
Pentair Clean & Clear
50-200 Square Feet
This is a single cartridge unit that is good for a small body of water such as a fountain or a spa.
You could also put it on a small pool, but we do not recommend it because you will end up needing to clean it very often.
Hayward SwimClear
225 – 700 Square Feet
This is another 4 cartridge unit equivalent to the Clean & Clear Plus and a good choice for a home pool.
We recommend cleaning this with a booster pump rather than just using a garden hose. We provide this service as a part of our semi-annual maintenance package.
Jandy CL Series
460/580 Square Feet
This is another 4 cartridge unit.
We do not sell it because we have seen a several issues with their filter tank bottoms splitting.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Filters
These are used almost exclusively on home pool. Offers the finest filtration rate but much higher maintenance costs and only marginally better filtration than cartridge filters. Installed prices INCLUDE push pull backwash valves. Multiport valves are $100 extra.

Pentair Quad DE
We do NOT recommend this filter at all. If you prefer a DE filter, we recommend a FNS plus, but better yet, look at a cartridge filter. It will give you fine filtration for a home pool and lower maintenance costs.
Hayward ProGrid DE
This is Hayward’s version of the DE filter. It is a good quality filter. We have sold some of them and had good results, but we primarily sell Pentair because that is most popular in our market.
Jandy DEL,DEV
This is Jandy’s version of the DE filter. We do not sell it because we have seen a several issues with their filter tank bottoms splitting.
The other brands do not seem to have these issues.
Sand Filters
Sand filters are primarily used on semi-public pools (hotels, apartments, health clubs, etc) because the pools experience a debris load that would require an excessive amount of backwashing and filter cleans on cartridge and DE filters. The filtration rate is not as fine as a DE or Cartridge filter, but it can be assisted with clarifiers and by maintaining a borate program for the water.
Triton C Sand Filter
30″/36″ models available
This is the workhorse of the industry and has been for the 40 years I have been in the industry. The Triton C is the commercial version with the larger top opening
This can be matched up with a side mount push pull or multiport valve.
Tagelus D Sand Filter
24″/30″ models available
This is a less expensive version of Pentair’s sand filter. It is not as easy to work on, but is used on many home pools.
It comes with the multiport valve.
